Gap Year backpacking Australia scuba diving

Sydney is the perfect destination to start your Gap Year! You will explore Sydney both above and bellow, then travell to Queensland and dive on the famous Great Barrier Reef! As a Divemaster you will have a world of new traveling options, and you can actually get paid to dive! Training with Abyss Scuba Diving, Sydney’s leading 5 Star PADI Instructor Development Centre, ensures that you will have loads of fun and enjoy the adventure of becoming a Divemaster!

Remember that this is an all inclusive Gap Year Program with no hidden costs. Once you have arrived in Sydney we will take care of the rest. From Airport transfers, Accommodation, cooking you breakfast and dinner, all course fees and equipment needed, and the list truly does go on.

Guess what? We even pay for your flight to the Great Barrier Reef where you will work on a luxury live-a-board dive vessel for 2 weeks. You will dive some of the best dive site in Australia and meet a lot of very interesting people along the way!

Commitment:

Full Time | 12 weeks
Part Time | less than 1 year commitment
(Full Time is based on minimum 5 days per week attendance | Part Time is primarily weekend attendance)

Program Prerequisites
Be 18 years or older at the commencement of the program.
Provide a diving medical within the last 12 months. (medical form)
The minimum visa you will be required to hold is the 3 month Tourist Visa. However, a Working Holliday VISA is required for work experience on the Great Barrier Reef. If you are unable to get a working holliday visa alternative experiences can be arranged. If you wish to continue your travels around Australia with the opportunity to supplement your travel funds through incidental employment you will be required to hold a valid Australian Working Visa. Airfares to and from Australia

Candidates are required to arrange their own flight to Sydney at the start of their internship
Airfares to the Great Barrier Reef are included in Internship cost.

VISA costs

We are able to offer VISA assistance but it is the candidates responsibility to pay for their VISA.
Working Holliday VISA is required to take part in the Great Barrier Reef Experience.

Additonal Spending Money

You will need some additional spending money for some lunches (during classroom sessions), drinks, and other day-to-day expenses of living.

Comments: I started my Gap Year in Sydney with Abyss Scuba Diving. I had never dived before, but i knew that i would love it so i decided to use my time in Australia to become a Divemaster. My program included a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, which included the flights to Cairns. After I finished my 12 weeks, I went traveling around OZ and went diving. The guys at Abyss are fantastic and I wouldn't have done my training anywhere else! I am now back in england, but will definetely be back!!!
