Sharks, deep wreck and great diving

On the weekend we have an PADI Advanced course running Nelson Bay diving trip which includes a shark dive and a deep wreck dive. You can do all 5 modules, are just a few, it is up to you. We will be offering Deep, Wrech, UW Naturalist, Boat, Navigation, Photography and fish ID modules on the trip.

So if you are keen to get a start on your advanced course or need to get a few modules done to get it finished this may be the perfect opportunity to do it.

Nelson Bay is about 2.5 hours drive North of Sydney. It has a range of diving most of which is located around Broughton Island. Broughton Island is made up of a group of Islands offering some excellent dive sites. There is heaps to see last time I was there I saw enormous bull rays, wobbygong sharks, grey nurse sharks, beautiful big sea pens and even a turtle. On the trip out we saw a few pods of dolphins right next to the boat.

Some of the dive sites are as follows:
Shark Gutters has a resident population of approximately 35 Grey Nurse Sharks is found on the North Eastern point of Broughton Island. Not a dive for the faint hearted or those who do not wish to visit with a shark.

If you wish to take some spectacular silhouette photos then you should dive the Bubble Cave. This is a large pocket of air in the cliff face with a cave entrance at approximately 13 meters and is found on the Western side of Little Broughton Island.

Looking for a spectacular dive - then this is it!!! At Looking Glass Island you can dive right through the middle of an Island - that’s right the Island has split in half!!! Depths range from approximately 15 to 27 meters. A dive not to be missed. The crack is 5 to 10 m wide and runs 40m through the island.

I hear you ask about rust. If want to do a wreck dive, Nelson Bay has a few but one of the more popular ones is the Oakland. The Oakland Last is in 27m and is in one piece. Although the deck is totally missing the ribs, bow and stern of the wreck are still in good tact. It is quite big and last time I dived it there was fish everywhere, turtles, wobbygongs, sea pens and loads more. Last but by no means least is the Spider Cave. This is a different dive with lots of twists and turns that you will need torch light to negotiate. The Spider Cave is located between Brought Island and Little Broughton Island and has a maximum dive depth of approximately 11 meters.

Cost of Nelson Bay Diving Trip $325
The price dose not include transport, lunch, the advanced course or equipment hire (scuba equipment (BCD, regulator, weights, wetsuit, hood and Tank) which can be hired for $110 for the two days. For those wishing to do the Underwater Photography module, 30m reusable sports cameras are available at the discounted rate of $29.25

We offer a special package deal giving a saving of over $100. For the Package Price of only $549, the combined Nelson Bay Advanced Dive Course Trip package includes the trip, tha advanced course and scuba gear hire (BCD, regulator, computer, weights, tanks and wetsuit).
