Shark Diving Tuesday

Close up of face
On Tuesday morning there was 8 keen divers (Rob, Joe, Paul, Carl, Leon, Ruth, Kellie and me Rachael) headed off to go and do the shark dive at Maroubra, Magic point. We all headed out to the pick up point at Long Bay for our 9.30am pick up. The boat trip was quite short, taking only 15min to reach the destination. It was the first time for the shark dive for most of us and everyone was excited about seeing them. I think most divers want to dive with a shark and lets face it Grey Nurses certainly look like the real thing! As we were the only boat at the site we were able to anchored right near the ledge where the Grey Nurses were.

We all entered the water and went down the anchor line and there was only a short swim off to the ledge. I would say that there were 10 Grey Nurses and 2 PJ’s swimming around the ledge. We all knelt along the sand watching the sharks swim around you could have reached out and touched them. I could have stayed there for hours just watching them. After 20 minuets we swim off to check out what else was around but soon headed back to the attraction of the dive, the sharks. We hung around there for about 15 more minuets watching the sharks and looking in the sand for teeth. I think we all ended up with a shark’s tooth by the end of the dive. Once back on the boat we headed back to Long Bay where we all ate hotdogs in the sun. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO START THE DAY.
