Mask, Fins and Snorkel

Masks

Masks are a fit-critical pieces of gear. If a mask leaks, forget it, regardless of whatever neat features it has.
After fit comes low volume and a wide field of view, both to the sides and up and down. Low volume is better for most divers because it means less drag, easier clearing and easier equalizing.

Only you can test the fit of your mask because every face and every mask is shaped differently. Personally I prefer the Scubapro Frameless, as this mask offers a good balance of vision in all directions plus low volume. The frameless design packs flat, making it compact for travel.

Fins

There are three primary variables to consider when selecting a fin: power, efficiency and fit. In general, the more water a fin moves, the greater its kicking power. Furthermore, fins that transfer a greater percentage of a diver's kicking effort into forward motion are considered to be more efficient.

The Oceanic V12 jet fin has both of these caracteristics built into it. These fins use Patented Propeller Technology Proven to deliver more forward motion with considerably less effort than traditional blades. This allows divers to fin faster and more efficiently—up to 40 percent more efficiently—than conventional paddle fins.

As a result, this highly sophisticated fin acts as a natural extension of the leg, transferring leverage during the power stroke while minimizing the potential for foot cramps during extended use.

The Oceanic V12 fin also has Limited Lifetime Warranty

Snorkel

Snorkels should have smooth continuous lines, not sudden abrupt turns in the path of air flow. The larger the snorkel diameter the easier the Greathing, but the greater the difficulty in clearing it of water.A purge valve positioned below the normal waterline of the snorkel when you are surface swimming can actually drain any water above the waterline so you have less water to clear.

Finally Internal Deflectors (small baffles) of plastic or silicone near the reservoir and bottom purge valve appear to improve both the clearing and dryness of these snorkels.

One of the great developments of recent times has been the Oceanic Ultradry snorkel. This is great, try as you may, you can't get water in it while it is in your mouth.
