Fiji Dive Trip

In the 1870’s Kadavu was considered as a site for the capital of Fiji. However, Suva was chosen instead, leaving Kadavu with it’s surrounding virgin reefs left still undisturbed. The south east side of the island is surrounded by the famous “Great Astrolabe Reef” that stretches for 45 kilometers. The island is located directly south from Suva. Mai Dive Resort is located on a family estate and on the island of Ono which has simple and very comfortable facilities for a small number of guests.The estate is 47 acres of thick tropical jungle and rainforest that plummets down a steep mountain spotted with numerous outcrops of volcanic rock that form the backdrop to the terraced working gardens and manicured grounds where all facilities are located amongst the palm tree lined waterfront.

Just 10 minutes away we have a fantastic site off the island of Vurolevu that is home to many manta rays. We do not use scuba when swimming with manta rays as we find the best experience is gained by snorkelling with them. They can be found in a cleaning station or in a feeding pattern in the many upwelling's and current lines boarded by the islands of Bulia, Vurolevu and Yabu.

We can usually provide an unforgettable manta experience for all guests that stay for 7 nights. The manta sometimes head to deeper waters but always return several days later, so we can almost guarantee a manta encounter for people staying 5-7 nights or more.

Most encounters involve up to 5 manta, but often there are 15-20 in active feeding patterns and moving through the cleaning station.
