Wreck of the Macleay

The First dive will be on the wreck of the Maclay. She was a big ship being 47 meters that his Boondelbah Island in 1911 and sunk. Although it was stuck on the island for sum time eventually it rolled completely on its port side and quickly sunk to the north of Boondelbah Island. Sadly out of the 17 crew there was only 2 survivors.

Today the SS Macleay lies in 43m quote broken up attracting lots of fish life. Although the wreck is broken in two you can still certainly make out the wreckage.  The engine and boiler are in good condition, while the partially collapsed bow offers protection for large mullaway while the rest of the wreck is covered by a large school of morwong. The fish life on the wreck is good with schooling fish as well as cuttle fish, brim an even maybe a Wobbygong shark.

Wreck of the oakland

The Oakland lays upright in 27m, is 101 years old, and is still in one piece!! Although the deck is totally missing the ribs, the bow and stern of the wreck are still in good tact. It is quite a big wreck, around 50m long and last time I dived it there were fish everywhere, turtles, wobbygongs, blind sharks, sea pens and loads more. It is a great wreck dive, you will love it!
