PADI OWSI Course

During the three and a half day course you’ll learn how to apply the PADI System of Education by presenting at least

• Two confined water teaching presentations
• Two knowledge development presentations
• One open water teaching presentations integrating two skills

You will demonstrate competence at

• performing all 20 dive skills listed on the Skill Evaluation.
• performing a facedown, nonstop swim for 800 metres/yards using a mask, snorkel and fins.

During the course you’ll need to demonstrate competency in Dive theory by passing a five-part theory exam scoring 75% on each part .

OWSI Candidates should be certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor or Instructor from another diver training organization. They must be at least 18years old, have been certified as a diver for 6 months and have 60 logged dives (including experience in deep, night and navigation diving).

Candidates must also have proof of completing CPR and First Aid training within the previous 24 months, and provide documentation of having a medical examination within the previous 12 months showing fitness for diving.

Candidates who have completed any of their previous training through diver training organizations other than PADI, must be able to provide copies of their certification cards or other documentation.

Independent Learning Prerequisites

Prior to the start of the OWSI Course, candidates are required to have completed all 16 Knowledge Reviews in the Instructor Candidate Workbook.
