CurrajongOn the evening of 8 March 1910, the TSS Currajong entered Port Jackson and headed up the Harbour. As the Currajong neared Bradleys Head, the huge 6000 plus tons passenger liner, SS Wyreema, bound for Cairns approached from the west. As was later to be shown at the Marine Inquiry, the Wyreema was traveling on the wrong side of the channel and hit the Currajong amidships on the port side. The Currajong started sinking immediately and the helmsman, Hans Neilson, was killed.

Since the dive site is in the harbour’s main shipping channels it must be undertaken after Harbour officially closes down for the day.

Comments: There was something eerily exciting about doing a night at 12am in Sydney Harbour. The vis was good enough for a night dive and it was amazing to see a wreck right in our own harbour! The boat and crew were fantastic.

On the way to Rose Bay we detour to pick up Kristy, after the usual just woken conversations we start the girlie chat and why don’t men ever call you back? (Answers on a postcard please …!) As we go through the bright lights of Kings Cross we see lots of drunken revellers wandering the streets. We get some strange looks from other drivers wondering a Sc... More details

Comments: good dive, all the best for the planning on this dive. the visibility was 2-3 meters, but not much of a wreck left to be seen.various marine live down there, and a good practice on nite diving.make shure you got all the gear needed for nite dive on this one.i give boat crew 5+ for putting the anchor right on the wreck-which made dive a lot more easy.
