Comments: The trip is sensational. Susan and I loved it, the crew were so helpful and friendly and went out of their way to assist in so many ways. We loved it so much we are booking another. Samantha from Abyss was a very helpful guide for the gang from Sydney, thanks Peter!
"3 Day Mike Ball Liveaboard"
David Mutton on 4/1/2010 3:13:34 PM
Comments: What a fantastic trip. Even if the diving were terrible, the great boat, staff, food and facilities would have made it enjoyable. But the diving was fantastic! Picture the coral seas you see on documentaries, then add yourself! Potato cod, manta rays, turtles, soft coral fans, tropical fish, all in 30m+ vis and 29 degree water. Can't beat it. I thought the 3 day trip would be too short, but we packed so much into the 3 days, it was great. David

Comments: I get to do lots of diving, but I never do much just for myself. So I treated myself to a few days off diving. I can't say enough about how good this trip was. If you want the best then try Mike Ball.

Comments: I agree on all of this. my dad (Gordon Coops) has been convincing me ever since to dive... but anyway, quite good deal
"BEST LIVEABOARD ON THE REEF"
GORDON COOPS on 15/8/2007 10:43:45 AM
Comments: A lot of fun packed into a few days. It starts with a low level flight over the reef on the way to Lizard Island. This provides great views of the reef systems. Then a transfer by dinghy to spoilsport. It is arguably the best liveaboard on the reef and I believe has won numerous awards by international dive magazines over the years. The dive deck is spacoius and the entry and exit points make for easy diving. The staff are very helpful and nothing seemed to be a bother. Working in the customer service industry makes me appreciate just how good this crew was. The diving was fantastic (24c water and 30m+ vis on many dives. The dive guides are happy to "hold your hand" if you wish or for the more experiemced divers will let you do your own thing, which given Queensland's OH&S reputation was a very pleasant surprise (they even have a solo diving program for suitably qualified divers). The dive sites sported a wide variety terrain from long reefes to large bommies. Fish life ranged from large potato cod and wrasse and large schhols that are a buzz to swim through. Add to that turtles and curious sea snakes as well as large morays. As for the food it was best I have had on a liveaboard. Fresh ingredients with a good variety at each meal. If you are planning to dive this part of the world then Mike Ball is definately the way to go. Will definately be back.

Comments: Amazing trip. See a school of 50 reef sharks, stunning undamaged coral and the beautiful hump head parrot fish. Get plenty of sleep to prepare for this one.
