From those who live in the Abyss

Hi, I’m Matt, the latest full-time staff member at Abyss.

I’ve recently had a career change and started full time in the Dive Industry.  I got tired of office life and decided I wanted to do what I love full time.

Originally hailing from London, I’ve been diving for four years, I completed my Open Water course in Thailand during a stint around South East Asia and instantly fell in love with it. Once I got to Sydney I settled here pretty quickly and I discovered that there is a fantastic range of diving available so took it up as a regular hobby.

After doing a lot of local diving I felt I should take more advantage of the Australian sun and decided to think about a career change which led me to my IDC and now full time employment at Abyss.

The thing I love most about diving is the sense of peace and freedom I get from being down in the water. I also love exploring and seeing new things so I’m always excited to get down there as there is always so much to see.

I’m recently married to a lovely Aussie girl and we have just moved to the Shire so I’m keen to settle in to my diving career and gain as much experience and skills as I can. I’m really excited about working with the team at Abyss and passing on my love of the underwater world to many future students.

I look forward to diving with you all!
