Lady Elliot Island is a coral cay located at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. The island is a sanctuary for over 1,200 species of marine life and is known for its abundance of manta rays, turtles, a fantastic array of spectacular marine life and unspoilt coral reef.
Because of its location far offshore in the Great Barrier Reef, the water surrounding the island has fantastic clarity, and the island is renowned for being one of the best spots in Australia for snorkelling and scuba diving.
The island itself is located at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef approximately 80km North-East of Bundaberg. The only way to get to the island is by plane and, the closest mainland is Hervey Bay; however, there are other departure points In Bundaberg, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
