Tawali is located on a volcanic bluff overlooking the clear protected waters of Milne Bay, accessible by boat only and often described as remote luxury. Getting to Tawali involves a coastal and forest drive from Alotau followed by a 15 minute scenic boat ride. The land is very interesting with white and black sand beaches, craters, hot springs, beautiful orchids, butterflies and birds of paradise. If diving isn't your thing or you have some non-diving days, experience the incredible hiking, bird-watching, island hopping or simply enjoying the incredible weather.

Tucked away, only accessible by boat, sits what may be Papua New Guinea's best kept scuba diving secret - Tawali Resort. Welcome to the exotic culture of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and to Tawali Resort. Located on a volcanic bluff overlooking the clear protected waters of Milne Bay, Tawali offers travelers a unique location to dive, relax and enjoy the unspoiled wonders of this magnificent part of the world.

The diving off Tawali is renowned for its steep drop-offs, exhilarating drift dives, brightly coloured  coral gardens and pelagic action including sharks and rays! The house reef out the front of the resort is another site raved about, easily accessible where you will find marine life including the sought after mandarin fish. Swim out a little further and find schooling pelagics, rays and more. Be sure to book enough nights so that you donâ€â„¢t miss out on any sites! As well as this, you can expect some fantastic macro diving. Find sandy bottoms alive with rhinopias, pygmy seahorses, mimic octopus and a myriad of small critters. A small sample of the dive sites below:

A steep wall that drops down to over 200 metres that is habitually visited by a multitude of  pelagics. See hammerhead sharks, manta rays, whale sharks, minke whales and on two occasions, orcas! After a while, adjust your vision and look up close at the variety of macro life and anemones along the wall, hiding amongst the brightly coloured corals and elephant ear sponges.
An incredible drift dive on which you will find yourself floating along a slanted reef through large gorgonian fans, and long grass corals alongside schooling fish and incredible macro life.
