"Amazing"

Matt Corkhill on 4/11/2012 3:06:15 PM

Comments: Everyone said that this course was the most challenging but most rewarding and, by the time I finished it, I felt exactly the same. It was heaps of fun, and I feel so much more confident as a diver now. Instead of being confused, afraid, or frozen when things go pear-shaped I know how to react appropriately and this knowledge makes diving all the more enjoyable.

"Challanging"

Comments: If you only do one course, make it the Rescue Diver. This has opened my eyes to the dedication that our instructors / dive masters have given. Knowing how to self help, assist or control an emergency is invaluable. There is a lot to learn, but it is done in a fun way for something that is very serious. Just do it!

"WOW!"

Sussanah Teng on 22/8/2011 8:44:48 PM

Comments: This is definately a weekend and course that I will never forget - so much fun and so much to learn not only about safe diving and looking out for fellow divers but I got to learn so much about myself and how I can be a responsible diver. Lisa Russel and Dean Thorpe were amazing instructors making it so much fun especially with the scenarios. There was always encouragement and feedback and suggestions and no hesitation in pushing us out of our comfort zone. "Bananas! Bananas!!" ha ha. This is definately a course you don't need to think about doing - JUST DO IT!!! :D

"Best Diving Course"

Marald Marcus on 18/7/2011 12:21:22 PM

Comments: The best and most rewarding dive course. It makes you more aware of your surroundings, gives you more confidence while diving. This course will take your diving skills and confidence to the next level. Dean and Lisa were absolutely outstanding by pushing everyone to and beyond their limits while keeping it fun to do so. Clear instruction, making everyone comfortable and the scenarios fantastic! A course I would recommend to everyone. Thanks Dean and Lisa for two great days!

"Regret"

Adam Rose on 1/11/2010 5:38:27 PM

Comments: I certainly have a large regret with this course. I regret I risked 80+ dives before doing it. After learning the course I cannot believe I had made it through that many dives without the knowledge, skills and confidence gained in one weekend. If you care about the people you dive with then you NEED to do this course. Big thumbs up to Jamie, top instruction and support.

"Rescue Cse"

Paul Bates on 1/11/2010 11:14:56 AM

Comments: Loved the course, Jamie was very professional as usual and delivered the course incrementally in a fun realistic way. We were all very tired on Sunday night. The course certainly increase your awareness and skills as a diver heaps more. Thanks Abyss, well done!

"Taking the next step!"

Chris Vibert on 1/11/2010 9:41:47 AM

Comments: I heard from many of the people around the shop and on shore dives that the Rescue course was the best of all the specialities to complete. I now completely agree!! Learning the skills to care for yourself and those around you are invaluable if diving is something you do regularly. The course really helped to develop my confidence levels in and around the water. Our instructor Jamie did a fantastic job balancing the serious nature of the course while keep things fun and engaging. I would recommend the Rescue Course to anyone looking to take that next step and build strong skills that help not just you but the entire diving community!! THANKS AS USUAL ABYSS!!

"Everyone should do the Rescue Course!"

Shahrzad Khayami on 21/9/2010 4:39:01 PM

Comments: Just completed the Rescue course last weekend and it was truly worthwhile. I learnt so much and it made me feel I can tackle any emergency that might happen in the water. Our instructor, Jamie, was really friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable. He made sure everyone mastered every skill while at the same time making it fun. I was totally exhausted Sunday night after it was all over, but I'd do it all over again in a second! A brilliant course...thanks Abyss!

"Plagiarising: 'Great course and really useful'!"

Benjamin Avanzi on 21/9/2010 2:51:51 PM

Comments: The rescue course lies at a completely different level when compared to the OW and AOW PADI courses: theory goes much more in depth and the practical side really aims at thoroughly developing a number of very useful skills. These skills are then practiced as many times as required for the students to become comfortable with them (rather than moving on once the skill has been performed correctly once). Abyss proved to be extremely serious in this training (once again!) and our instructor Jamie was very competent and professional (on the top of being a great guy! :-) ). We also had 3 assistant instructors (all very good) who helped provide individual, almost continuous feed back throughout the course. I saw myself constantly challenged and pushed out of my comfort zone (which is really what makes you learn) and fully appreciated how quickly and far my skills developed during these two days. It was amazing to compare how I approached a diver at the surface on Saturday morning and on Sunday afternoon! (after having been severely jumped at in the early stages of the course - any rescue diver having done the course will understand what I am talking about.. ;-) ). These two days were challenging, exhausting, productive, and a lot of fun! I do not regret half a second! Thanks Abyss.

"Know Thy Self... How would you react in a tight situation?"

Magnum Lorie on 21/9/2010 2:36:57 PM

Comments: It might be a little more study and if you've overheard some of the guys in the shop, some of the tasks might seem a little daunting but this course gives you the skills and confidence to know how to handel both yourself and others in a tight situation. The course is fun and light hearted while maintaining the seriousness and severity of what could happen and what to do in an emergency situation. I would highly recommend this course to anyone and think it is essential if you are regularly diving. 11/10 from me!

"Lots of Fun, Sun & Scenarios"

Rebecca Russell on 21/9/2010 2:35:21 PM

Comments: The theoretical part of the course is not very far into the issues. But the practice is incredible, very useful and fun.

"Great course and really useful"

Chris Smith on 24/2/2010 11:54:09 AM

Comments: The rescue course at first sounds like a lot of work, but having done it, it definitely is very practical and may save yours or someone elses life one day. Very well put together and taught by Carl and Cem with everything making sense by the end of the two days. Really helps your diving skills and being much more aware of whats going on around you in the water. Would definitely recommend sunscreen and a hat, but very much enjoyed the course and the way Abyss taught it, 5 stars...

"Great fun - remember to bring sunscreen!"

Ray Muirhead on 23/2/2010 1:29:41 PM

Comments: Rescue course was a blast - Carl and Jaime are both excellent instructors. Make sure you remember to bring sunscreen and a hat, most of the course takes place out of the water or on the surface!

"Rescue Diver Course with Cem and Carl"

Sammy on 23/2/2010 1:16:28 AM

Comments: Loved the course. 1st day was big. Didn't realize how tired I was until after I got home and slept from 7pm. Finding the pony bottle in 1 foot vis was a challenge and then to find the valve was off. 2nd day was more scenario based which worked well as everyone seemed to gel after getting to know each other from the first day. I can see the value in going back and helping with the course after being qualified (as some divers did with us). If only to play a panic victim and knock Cem's mask off :)
