PADI Rescue Diver Course Booking Terms & Conditions

By booking the PADI Rescue Diver course with Abyss Scuba Diving, you acknowledge and agree to the following course-specific terms, conditions and prerequisites.

Course Prerequisites

To participate in and complete the PADI Rescue Diver course, you must meet the required PADI prerequisites before the practical rescue training and certification can be completed.

  • Diver certification: You must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Adventure Diver with the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive, or hold an equivalent qualifying certification from another recognised training agency.
  • CPR and First Aid currency: You must hold a current certificate of currency in CPR and First Aid training, completed within the previous 24 months. This may include Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid), or another qualifying CPR and First Aid course accepted by your PADI Instructor.
  • Proof required: You must provide evidence of your current CPR and First Aid certificate before certification as a PADI Rescue Diver can be processed. If you do not hold a current CPR and First Aid certificate, you must complete suitable training before or in conjunction with your Rescue Diver course.
  • Online-only CPR or First Aid courses: Online-only courses without hands-on practical training may not meet PADI Rescue Diver prerequisites. Please contact Abyss Scuba Diving before booking if you are unsure whether your existing certificate is acceptable.
  • Age requirement: You must meet the minimum age requirement for the PADI Rescue Diver course. Divers under 15 years of age may be certified as Junior Rescue Divers, subject to PADI standards and instructor approval.

Medical Fitness to Dive

Scuba diving requires reasonable health and fitness. Before participating, you must complete the required diver medical declaration. If your medical declaration indicates that a doctor’s clearance is required, you must provide written medical clearance from a doctor before taking part in any in-water training. Failure to provide required medical clearance may result in you being unable to participate, and normal booking conditions will apply.

CPR & First Aid Training Option

If you do not already hold a current CPR and First Aid certificate, you can complete suitable training before your Rescue Diver course. CPR and First Aid are essential skills for rescue-level divers and are required before your PADI Rescue Diver certification can be issued.

Abyss Scuba Diving offers First Aid and CPR training suitable for divers and non-divers. You can view course details here: First Aid & CPR Course.

Booking, Attendance and Course Completion

  • Attendance: You must attend all scheduled theory, confined water, open water and rescue scenario sessions required for the course.
  • Arrival time: You must arrive on time and be ready to start at the scheduled course time. Late arrival may mean you are unable to participate in that session.
  • Preparation: Any required PADI eLearning, knowledge development or pre-course study must be completed before attending the relevant practical training sessions.
  • Performance requirements: Certification is not guaranteed by attendance alone. To be certified, you must meet all PADI performance requirements, complete the required training components, demonstrate adequate rescue skills and satisfy your instructor that you can safely perform the required tasks.
  • Additional training: If you require extra training, remedial sessions, additional dives or rescheduling due to incomplete prerequisites, incomplete eLearning, medical issues, late arrival or not meeting performance requirements, additional fees may apply.

Weather, Safety and Instructor Discretion

Diving activities are subject to weather, sea conditions, safety considerations and instructor discretion. Abyss Scuba Diving may change dive sites, adjust the schedule, postpone training or cancel in-water activities where conditions are considered unsuitable or unsafe. Safety decisions made by Abyss Scuba Diving staff and instructors are final.

Equipment and Personal Responsibility

You are responsible for bringing any required personal items, certification cards, medical clearance, CPR and First Aid evidence, swimwear, towel and suitable exposure protection as advised. Any scuba equipment used during the course must be suitable, safe and in serviceable condition. Abyss Scuba Diving reserves the right to refuse the use of any equipment considered unsafe or unsuitable for training.

Cancellations, Transfers and Non-Attendance

Course cancellations, transfers, missed sessions and non-attendance are subject to Abyss Scuba Diving’s standard booking, cancellation and transfer terms. Customers who arrive without the required prerequisites, required paperwork, medical clearance or proof of CPR and First Aid currency may be unable to participate, and normal booking conditions will apply.

Customer Acknowledgement

By booking this course, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and conditions, that you meet or will meet the course prerequisites before the required training sessions, and that you understand a current certificate of currency in CPR and First Aid training is required for PADI Rescue Diver certification.
