Scuba Equipment Servicing FAQs

How often should my regulator be serviced?

Follow the interval specified by the manufacturer for your model. Arrange an inspection sooner if the regulator has been damaged, has taken in contaminants, breathes unusually, leaks, free-flows or has been stored for a long period. Do not dive with equipment you suspect is faulty.

Which regulator brands can Abyss service?

Our published standard service list covers Scubapro, Oceanic, Beuchat, Apeks, Poseidon, Zeagle, Atomic, Hollis, Aqualung, Cressi, Tusa, Sherwood and Mares. Call us first if you have another brand, an unusual model or older equipment.

Does a dive computer battery service include pressure testing?

Yes. The listed fixed-price computer battery services include battery replacement and a pressure test to 30 metres. Some brands or models require send-away servicing and are priced on application.

Can you service older scuba equipment?

Limits apply. Abyss does not service regulators or BCDs more than 15 years old, or units not serviced within the past three years. We do not hydrostatically test or fill aluminium cylinders over 30 years old or steel cylinders over 40 years old.

Where do I bring my scuba gear?

Bring it to Abyss Scuba Diving at 278 Rocky Point Road, Ramsgate NSW 2217. The shop is open seven days. See our contact page for current opening hours, directions and parking information.

Should I service my gear just before travelling?

Avoid leaving it until the last moment. The typical turnaround ranges from two days for some on-site computer work to approximately 14 days for send-away computers, while parts or unforeseen faults can add time. Tell us your travel date at drop-off.
