Your email client should open with the plan request. Send it to Abyss and we’ll come back with a suggested path. That might be as simple as booking the trip, or it might include a few local dives, a confidence-building course, a gear check or a group introduction before departure.
Clicking Find Out How opens a short trip-plan request. Tell us which trip you are dreaming about, when you are hoping to go, your current certification, roughly how many dives you have logged, and when you last dived. Abyss will then come back with a simple suggested path.
That might mean you are ready to book now. It might mean doing a few relaxed local dives first, refreshing your skills, checking your gear comfort, completing Nitrox or Advanced, or joining a trip-prep pathway before departure. It is not an exam, and it is not a commitment to book. It is simply the easiest way to ask, “I want to do this trip — how do I get there?”
Is “Find Out How” the same as booking the trip?
No. Trip Details is for viewing the trip page and booking information. Find Out How is for divers who love the idea of the trip but want Abyss to help map the path. Use it if you are not sure whether to book now, prepare first, or build toward a future departure.
Why don’t sold-out trips show “Find Out How”?
If a trip is sold out, the card shows Join Waitlist instead. That way we do not invite you to plan for a closed departure. If a place opens or a similar trip is planned, Abyss can let you know.
Should I choose the trip first or the training first?
Choose the dream first. A trip gives your local diving a purpose. Once you know what excites you, Abyss can suggest the few dives, skills or gear steps that actually help that trip, rather than sending you through a generic course ladder.
I want to do a trip but I’m not sure how to get there. What should I do?
Start by choosing the trip that excites you. If the trip has places available, click Find Out How and send Abyss a few details about your diving. We’ll come back with a practical plan. The plan might be as simple as booking the trip, or it might include a few local dives, a buoyancy tune-up, Nitrox, Advanced, a gear check or a trip social before departure.
Can newer divers join Abyss trips?
Yes, some trips are designed as great first adventures or first overseas-friendly trips. Others are advanced goals to build toward. The important thing is not to self-disqualify too early. Tell us the trip you want, and we’ll help you work out the safest and most enjoyable path.
Why does travel matter for diver retention?
A dream trip gives you a reason to keep diving. Local dives, training, equipment comfort and social connections become more meaningful when they are part of a future adventure you genuinely want.
What if I don’t have a buddy?
Many Abyss travellers enquire or book without a regular buddy. We can help you join the group, meet other divers and prepare before departure. If buddy support is important to you, mention it in your message.
What if I’m rusty?
That is common. A refresher, a relaxed guided local dive or a buoyancy-focused session can often rebuild confidence quickly. Tell Abyss when you last dived and we’ll suggest the right restart path.
Do I need Advanced Open Water or Nitrox before every trip?
No. Some trips are suitable for Open Water divers, while others are much more enjoyable with Advanced, Nitrox, Deep, wreck experience or recent boat diving. Abyss will confirm what matters for the specific trip and itinerary.
What if the trip I want is sold out?
Join the waitlist. Sold-out trips are still useful signals because they tell us what divers are dreaming about. We can let you know about cancellations, repeat departures or similar adventures.
Do I need travel or dive insurance?
Yes — we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for all trips and suitable dive accident cover for diving activities. Some overseas trips may require specific cover or documentation.
Who handles overseas travel bookings?
International travel arrangements are managed with our travel partners where required, including licensed travel arrangements for overseas packages. Abyss remains your dive-centre guide for the diving pathway, group preparation and trip support.
