Flagship first-overseas pathway
Vanuatu: the warm-water pathway that makes overseas dive travel feel achievable
Vanuatu is Abyss’s clearest first-overseas pathway: warm water, relaxed island time and several trip styles, supported by a practical route from interest to readiness.
Dream
Warm reefs, turtles, relaxed island time and a South Pacific feel without turning the trip into a complicated expedition.
Check
Open Water divers can often enjoy the right Vanuatu itinerary, but recency, buoyancy, boat comfort and confidence still matter.
Prepare
Use local confidence dives, buoyancy practice, gear comfort, insurance questions and a simple packing system to remove uncertainty.
Book
Once the fit feels right, view the Vanuatu guide, show current departures or ask Abyss to map your simplest next step.
Start with Abyss-hosted trips. If none fits your dates or dream, ask Abyss before booking elsewhere.
Tell us the destination, dates, group size and kind of diving you want. Abyss may be able to help you compare suitable options and arrange the booking through a selected specialist dive operator or dive-travel partner.
Some options are provided and operated by third parties. Abyss may receive a commission or referral fee if you book through us. Before you commit, we will explain who operates the trip, who receives your payment and which booking conditions apply.
These answers focus on the real decision: I like the trip, but am I ready, and what should I do next?
Which trip should I start with?
If your dream is still broad, compare destinations. If a particular trip already stands out, ask Abyss to check whether it fits your current diving.
Can I join if I am newer or rusty?
Often, yes. Some trips are designed as first-overseas-friendly or good weekend pathways, while others are advanced goals to build toward. Rusty divers usually need a simple restart plan, not a full reset. Tell Abyss when you last dived and which trip interests you.
Do I need Advanced Open Water or Nitrox?
Not for every trip. Some trips suit Open Water divers. Others are more enjoyable with Advanced, Nitrox, Deep, Wreck, SMB practice or recent boat diving. The right answer depends on the destination, depth, currents, remoteness and trip rhythm.
What is the difference between View trip details and Ask Abyss to check fit?
View trip details takes you to the trip page and booking information. Ask Abyss to check fit is for divers who like a trip but want help checking readiness, useful preparation, or the simplest pathway from where they are now.
Can I come solo, with family or with non-divers?
Yes, many divers enquire without a regular buddy, and some trips suit families, couples and non-divers better than others. Ask Abyss about group support, rooming, junior diver limits and non-diver-friendly options before you choose.
What if the trip is sold out or not visible?
Join the waitlist for sold-out trips. If a trip is not visible in All trips, try its specific tab, use Show more, or open the full calendar. The hub checks up to the next 20 trips and shows them progressively so the page stays useful without becoming a long catalogue.
