You are welcome here

Diving Is Better When You Know People

The easiest way to keep diving is to meet other divers. Abyss social events are relaxed, friendly gatherings where new and experienced divers can connect, share stories, ask questions, find buddies and plan their next dives.

You do not need to arrive with a buddy. You do not need to know everyone. Just come along, meet the community and start making safe buddy connections.

You are welcome. Social events are designed for new, returning and regular divers.
You can come alone. Many divers do. That is exactly why these events exist.
You will meet other divers. The Abyss team helps people connect and find their next step.
You will find inspiration. Hear about upcoming dives, trips, gear nights and marine talks — each social is a new adventure idea.

Upcoming Social Events

Every Abyss social is more than a calendar item — it’s where divers of all levels build their tribe, find mentors and discover new adventures. Relaxed, beginner‑friendly and designed to keep you connected between dives.

Events fill up quickly. If your preferred event is full, join the waitlist or check back soon for new dates.

Weather not cooperating? If your scheduled dive is cancelled, join one of these social nights to stay connected and keep the dive stoke alive.

Come along by yourself, meet other divers, talk to the Abyss team and connect with people who are at a similar stage of their diving journey.

Sunday Post‑Dive Gathering

Abyss Scuba Diving’s Sunday Post‑Dive Gathering

At Abyss, the Sunday pizza and beer is more than a feed after the dive — it’s the bit that turns a Sunday dive into a community event.

After the regular Sunday dives, divers come back to the Ramsgate dive centre around 3:00 pm for free pizza and beer, sitting around the front of the shop, filling in logbooks, talking through the dive, meeting buddies, and planning the next one. It’s a way for divers to strengthen buddy relationships and organise future dives together.

Don’t rush off after Sunday’s dive. Come back to Abyss for free pizza, a beer or coffee, and a relaxed catch‑up with the crew. It’s the perfect chance to fill in your logbook, swap stories, meet new dive buddies and plan your next underwater adventure.

Post‑dive only. Always wait until after your dive before enjoying alcohol.
Hydrate first. Stay hydrated with water before reaching for a beer or pizza.
Drink responsibly. Enjoy drinks in moderation and in accordance with NSW guidelines.

Complimentary drinks are offered post‑dive for our community. Please enjoy responsibly — Abyss promotes safe diving, DAN guidelines and NSW RSA practices.

Questions before you come?

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come if I do not currently have a dive buddy?

Yes. In fact, that is one of the main reasons to come. Many divers attend Abyss social events by themselves so they can meet other divers, build safe buddy connections and find people to dive with in future.

Do I need to be an Abyss Dive Club member?

Some events may be Dive Club events, but many social events are open to certified divers who want to meet the Abyss community. Check the event details before booking.

I am newly certified. Will I feel out of place?

No. New divers are very welcome. Social events are a relaxed way to ask questions, meet other divers and plan your first few post-certification dives.

Do I need to book?

Yes. Please reserve your spot so we can manage numbers, seating and catering.

Are non-diving partners welcome?

Some events are suitable for non-diving partners or friends. Check the event details or contact the Abyss team.

Where are the events held?

Events may be held at Abyss Scuba Diving, nearby venues, post-dive locations or other Sydney community spaces. Check the event listing for the exact location.
