Welcome to Abyss Scuba Diving! We’re excited to have you as part of our community. Below, you’ll find all the policies and procedures you need to know. By engaging with our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
Returns & Refund Policy
Dive Course Bookings
- Full Refund: Cancel your booking at least 7 days before your course starts for a refund, minus the cost of training materials.
- Non-Refundable: Courses booked within 7 days of the start date are not eligible for a refund.
- eLearning Courses: The cost of eLearning materials is non-refundable once purchased.
- Course Commencement: No refunds are provided once a course has started. If you need to reschedule after starting, a fee of $100 applies ($125 for budget courses).
- Dive Medical: A mandatory Dive Medical may be required and must be completed at least 7 days before your course starts. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your payment without a refund.
Transfer/Change of Course Date
- Changes made 7 days or more before the course start date incur no fee.
- Changes made within 7 days will incur a $100 fee.
- Changes made within 24 hours of the course start date will incur a $200 fee.
Dive Gear and Products
- Satisfaction Guarantee: Unsatisfied with your purchase? Exchange it within 30 days.
- Full Refund: Return unused gear in its original condition within 30 days for a full refund.
- Lifetime Customer Commitment: We’re here to help you with any product issues.
Dive Travel and Trip Bookings
1. Local Dives
- Certification: All participants must be at least Open Water Certified. Proof of certification is required on arrival. Divers with fewer than 20 logged dives must have dived within the last 12 months.
- Medical Fitness: Participants must be fit to dive and sign a Liability Waiver. If a medical condition prevents participation (temporary or permanent), the cancellation terms below apply.
- Timeliness: Please arrive on time. Refunds or credits will not be issued for late arrivals, including those caused by traffic or parking difficulties.
- Gear Rental:
- Rental gear must be booked in advance and collected before the dive briefing.
- Divers are responsible for correct fitting, safe use, and care of all gear. Lost or damaged items will be charged at repair or replacement cost.
- Early return or unused gear is non-refundable.
- Cancellation of gear rental:
- More than 48 hours before pickup: refund less 20% of the hire fee (minimum $10).
- 48–24 hours before pickup: 50% of the hire fee retained.
- Less than 24 hours before pickup or no-show: 100% of the hire fee retained.
- Cancellations and Transfers:
- More than 3 days before the dive: refund issued, less $25 administration fee.
- Within 3 days of the dive: no refund.
- Failure to attend: no refund; rebooking at full cost.
- One free date transfer is permitted with more than 3 days’ notice. Subsequent changes, or transfers within 3 days, incur a $100 rebooking fee.
- Dives may be transferred to another person at any time for a $100 rebooking fee.
- If you fail to complete both dives during the scheduled time, the remaining dive(s) are forfeited.
- Weather and Safety: If Abyss Scuba Diving cancels due to unsafe conditions (e.g. weather), you may transfer to another date within 12 months. Any difference in price at the time of rebooking will apply.
2. Weekend Trips
- Cancellations:
- A $25 cancellation fee applies for cancellations made up to 7 days before departure.
- Cancellations within 7 days of departure are non-refundable.
- Gear Rental:
- Limited gear rental may be available and must be booked in advance.
- Participants are responsible for the care and correct use of equipment. Lost or damaged gear will incur repair or replacement costs.
- Early return or unused gear is non-refundable.
- Cancellation of gear rental:
- More than 48 hours before dispatch: refund less 20% of the hire fee (minimum $10).
- 48–24 hours before dispatch: 50% of the hire fee retained.
- Less than 24 hours before dispatch or no-show: 100% of the hire fee retained.
3. Overseas Trips
- Deposits: A non-refundable deposit of 20% is required at the time of booking.
- Cancellations: Cancellations made within 90 days of departure are non-refundable.
- Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to cover unexpected cancellations, medical issues, lost baggage, or trip interruptions.
Price-Match Policy
We offer a Best Price Guarantee on all gear purchases to ensure great value.
- Eligible Products: Applies to identical products available in Australian retail stores.
- Proof Required: You must provide proof of the current advertised price.
- Exclusions: Clearance or non-stocked items do not qualify.
- Payment Terms: Only valid for purchases made by cash or credit card. Additional fees apply for third-party financial services like ZipMoney.
- No Retroactive Matches: Price matches must be requested before purchase.
Delivery and Shipping
We deliver across Australia and New Zealand using reliable couriers and Australia Post Express.
- Delivery Timeline: Orders typically arrive within 3–8 working days.
- Signature Requirement: All deliveries require a signature upon receipt.
- Global Shipping: Training materials can be shipped internationally, with freight charges applied.
Medical Statement Requirement
All participants signing up for any Abyss Scuba Diving course must read and confirm they have read our Medical Statement. This is mandatory before attending any course. Your confirmation ensures you have reviewed and understood the conditions outlined in the medical form.
Data Protection Policy
Your privacy matters to us. Abyss Scuba Diving complies with GDPR and protects your personal data responsibly.
- Data Handling: Your data will be processed lawfully, stored securely, and used responsibly.
- Data Retention: We will only hold your data for as long as necessary.
- Data Breaches: We will promptly address and report any data breaches as per legal obligations.
