We will have Chrissy Tustison & Professor David Booth
Chrissy became involved with seadragon research in 2018, when she was working toward her master's degree at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, California. Chrissy began working with Professor Greg Rouse at Scripps and Dr. Nerida Wilson of the Western Australian Museum developing a citizen science project with a goal to collect data about seadragon populations using photographs and artificial intelligence tools. This project became SeadragonSearch. Chrissy is continuing to develop the project alongside Dr. Wilson and Professor Rouse while working toward her PhD through the University of Western Australia. She is currently located in San Diego, and will move to Perth once the safety of international travel stabilizes.
David Booth is Professor of Marine Ecology, leading the Fish Ecology Lab, is Director of the UTS Centre for Environmental Sustainability (CEnS), and has been at UTS since 1994. He has been diving kurnell for many years and studying weedy sea dragon and is here to share what he has learnt
we will then be running a weedy sea dragon dive on Sunday 17th to practise some of the skills we learn https://www.abyss.com.au/en/seadragon-dive
