Christy McCormick

Christy Mccormick
Christy is a born and bred adventurer who grew up in Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates. This early introduction to travelling instilled in him a love of exploration.
On a family holiday to the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia, Christy finally had the opportunity to explore the underwater world and completed his PADI Open Water certification alongside his siblings. In the years that followed, he went on to earn his Advanced Open Water in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, and his Rescue Diver certification in Kas, Turkey. At 18, he became a Divemaster during a month-long program at the renowned Crystal Dive in Koh Tao.
After earning a degree in Sports Science and Coaching in Wales, Christy continued his dive journey in Mexico, where he achieved his dream of becoming a scuba diving instructor. His adventures have since taken him throughout Southeast Asia and across Australia, diving everywhere from Sydney Harbour to remote coastlines. Christy has also worked in outdoor education on the Illawarra coast and even wrangled sheep in the Aussie outback. His passion for diving and zest for adventure are truly contagious, and he brings that same energy to every student he teaches at Abyss.
