Special Mike Ball Expeditions

Exploratory routes & one-off adventures — discover remote reefs beyond the usual itineraries.

Mike Ball Dive Expeditions occasionally operate special or exploratory routes that don’t fit into the standard 3-, 4- or 7-night schedules. These trips take you off the beaten path to seldom-visited reefs and dive sites in the far reaches of the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea. You’ll still enjoy the same award-winning service aboard Spoilsport, but the itinerary, departure port and sights may vary from trip to trip.

How booking works: Pay a A$400 deposit today to secure your place. The balance is invoiced 90 days before departure.

When you place a deposit, we’ll record the expedition name, dates, cabin type and number of guests. Our team will then confirm the exact itinerary and travel logistics with you.

 

Trip Highlights

  • Visit remote reefs and seldom-dived sites such as Northern Exposure, Far North coral gardens, Ashmore Reef or the historic Yongala wreck (itinerary dependent).
  • Experience the same premium liveaboard comfort aboard Spoilsport — spacious cabins, chef-prepared meals and dedicated dive crew.
  • Enjoy varied diving: blue-water drift dives with sharks and pelagics, stunning coral walls, macro sites and possible wreck exploration.
  • Small-group guided dives and flexible schedules tailored to take advantage of the best conditions.

Who these trips suit

  • Experienced divers — typically suited to Advanced Open Water divers comfortable with blue-water ascents and currents.
  • Adventurous travellers — perfect for those seeking something different from the classic Cod Hole or Coral Sea routes.
 

What’s Included

  • Accommodation aboard Spoilsport in a twin-share or double cabin with ensuite bathroom.
  • Chef-prepared meals and snacks, complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks.
  • Up to 4 dives per day including night dives (where offered), tanks, weights, and dive guide services.
  • Use of tenders for water entries and pick-ups; all reef permits and marine park fees.
  • Transfers as specified in the itinerary (may include scenic flight segments or coach transfers).

Rental dive gear, nitrox fills and dive courses are available on request.
