Oceanic Biolite Travel BCD

Oceanic Biolite Travel BCD: travel light with integrated weights

The Oceanic Biolite is a compact, travel-focused BCD weighing only 2.5 kg. Its low-profile BioFlex air cell, foldable backpack and integrated weight system make it a practical choice for divers who want to take their own familiar rear-inflation BCD without using up their baggage allowance.

2.5 kg Dry weight
Up to 6.4 kg Quick-release front weights
Up to 4.5 kg Tank-band trim weights

Abyss fit advice

A size chart is a starting point, not a substitute for a proper fitting—especially when your wetsuit thickness, cylinder choice and usual weighting can change the fit.

How to choose the right BCD

Lightweight, simple and streamlined

Why divers choose the Biolite

The Biolite keeps the essentials and removes unnecessary bulk. It is designed to pack easily while still providing adjustable fit, integrated weights and useful trim control.

Made for dive travel

The low-profile backpack folds for packing, and the complete BCD weighs just 2.5 kg.

Streamlined integrated weights

Dual front Quick Drop pockets accept up to 3.2 kg each, giving a total releasable weight capacity of 6.4 kg.

Separate trim-weight capacity

Two non-releasable tank-band pockets accept up to 2.3 kg each to help fine-tune balance and stability.

Low-profile BioFlex rear air cell

Oceanic's flexible, airtight BioFlex material helps reduce bulk and drag while conforming comfortably around the diver.

Adjustable comfort

Torso-adjustable shoulder straps, a depth-compensating waistband, a self-adjusting sternum strap with safety whistle and a soft back pad help create a secure fit.

Travel-tough details

High-wear areas use 1000-denier Cordura, while an adjustable right-shoulder carabiner provides a convenient attachment point without unnecessary hardware.

The Biolite is a strong match if you:

  • Travel regularly and want to reduce checked-baggage weight.
  • Prefer diving in your own familiar, correctly fitted BCD.
  • Want releasable front weights plus non-releasable trim weights.
  • Value a clean, low-bulk design over lots of storage and hardware.

Compare another BCD if you:

  • Need large storage pockets or multiple attachment points.
  • Regularly carry bulky accessories or demanding equipment configurations.
  • Need more lift or weight capacity than the correct size provides.
  • Would prefer a more structured, feature-heavy BCD for mainly local diving.

Weight limits are capacities, not a recommendation for how much weight to carry. Your correct weighting and required lift depend on your exposure protection, cylinder, equipment configuration and diving conditions. Confirm the required lift for your exact size and currently stocked unit with the Abyss equipment team.

Oceanic Biolite size guide

Use height, weight, chest and waist together. If different measurements point to different sizes, choose only after trying the BCD with the exposure protection you normally wear.

Before you order

Common questions about the Biolite

Is the Oceanic Biolite suitable for dive travel?

Yes. Its 2.5 kg dry weight, low-profile air cell and foldable backpack are the Biolite's main advantages for travel. It lets you bring a familiar BCD while leaving more baggage allowance for the rest of your equipment.

Does the Biolite have integrated weights?

Yes. The two releasable front pockets hold up to 6.4 kg in total, and the two non-releasable tank-band trim pockets hold up to 4.5 kg in total. Your actual weighting should be established with a proper buoyancy check.

Can I use the Biolite for Sydney diving?

It can suit local recreational diving, but a diver wearing thicker exposure protection may carry more weight than on a tropical trip. Confirm that the BCD's lift and weight capacities suit your complete local configuration before buying.

How should a correctly fitted BCD feel?

It should remain secure without restricting breathing or shoulder movement, and it should not ride up when inflated at the surface. Try it over the wetsuit you normally use and check that every release and adjustment is easy to reach.

How should I rinse and store the Biolite?

After diving, rinse the outside thoroughly and flush the air cell with fresh water. Drain it, allow it to dry and store it partially inflated in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Arrange periodic inspection and servicing through an authorised equipment technician.

Let the Abyss team check your fit

Visit the Ramsgate dive shop for an in-store fitting, or ask the equipment team to help compare the Biolite with another BCD. Demonstrator availability varies, so contact us before making a special trip if you would like to arrange a trial.
