Why Vanuatu works so well for Sydney divers

Explore warm-water reef diving around Moso Island, Hat Island and Paul’s Rock, with varied terrain and the possibility of turtle encounters. Compare the Long Weekend, Full Dive Week, Family and New Year formats, then check which current departures suit your dates.

Dive travel questions

Questions divers ask before booking a trip

Dates matter, but so do the dive pace, depths, currents and support. These answers help you know what to check next.

How should I use the trip finder?

Start with the month or year when you can travel. Then choose All trips, Weekend trips, Overseas trips, Vanuatu or Liveaboards. Turn on “Places available only” when bookable availability matters more than seeing waitlist options.

How do I know which trips still have places?

Use the availability switch in Current Departures. It includes trips currently marked available or limited and hides sold-out trips and departures whose availability still needs checking. Always open the exact trip page before booking because availability can change.

Can I join if I am newer or rusty?

Often, yes, but the exact itinerary matters. Tell Abyss your certification, logged dives, last dive and the trip that interests you. A refresher or a few supported dives may be the simplest preparation.

Do I need Advanced Open Water or Nitrox?

Not for every trip. The answer depends on planned depths, currents, remoteness, repetitive diving and the operator’s current requirements. Check the individual trip page and ask Abyss if anything is unclear.

What does a trip fit check cover?

The exact trip page contains the current product information and booking conditions. A fit check helps compare that itinerary with your certification, recent diving, experience and confidence.

Can I travel solo or with non-divers?

Many divers enquire without a regular buddy, and selected trips may suit couples, families or non-divers. Confirm rooming, buddy support, junior limits and non-diver arrangements on the exact trip page.

What if a trip is sold out or not visible?

Join the waitlist on an explicitly sold-out trip. If a trip is not shown, try any date or destination, turn off the availability switch, open the full calendar or ask Abyss about a future departure.

Tell us what kind of dive trip you want

Share when you can travel, where you would love to dive, who is going and your current diving experience. Abyss can help you compare a suitable current departure or explore an appropriate specialist option.

Some options are operated by third parties, and Abyss may receive a commission or referral fee. Before you commit, we will explain who operates the trip, who receives payment and which booking conditions apply.
