As a PADI Career Development Centre, Abyss can support candidates across the pathway rather than treating the Instructor Development Course as an isolated event. Your current qualification, dive history, theory knowledge and career goal all help shape the plan.
Regular theory checks allow the training team to identify areas that need more attention early. That means your study time can be focused where it will make the greatest difference before the Instructor Examination.

Mentoring after the IE

After you pass the PADI Instructor Examination and your Instructor status becomes active, the emphasis moves to progressive team teaching. You can gain experience alongside established professionals while learning how a busy Sydney dive centre supports students from their first course through continuing education.

Optional experience
Add a Four-Week Vanuatu Experience
The current program offers Vanuatu as an optional addition. Sydney remains the primary Instructor internship; Vanuatu adds exposure to a small tropical dive operation and a different customer environment.
The optional experience includes basic shared accommodation, basic meals, tanks and weights, and at least 20 program dives, subject to safe conditions and your ability to participate. Return flights, personal equipment beyond tanks and weights, insurance and personal expenses are separate.
