What This Deposit Does
Your $500 deposit tells us you are serious about becoming a PADI Divemaster and allows us to begin building your internship plan. After your deposit is received, one of our PADI Course Directors will contact you to review your current certifications, dive experience, availability, start date and professional goals.

What Your Divemaster Internship Package Includes
This is not just a deposit for a single course. It is the first step into a structured professional training package designed to take you toward your PADI Divemaster certification with real dive centre experience.
Core PADI Courses Covered
The package includes the core training required to progress from a certified diver through to PADI Divemaster level. If you already hold some of these ratings, let us know so we can review your pathway.
Note: The package price may be adjusted if you have already completed some of the included certifications.
Choose Full-Time or Part-Time
Full-Time Internship
Approximately 9 weeks, usually around 5 days per week. This is the best option if you want an immersive professional diving pathway and can commit to a concentrated schedule.
Part-Time Internship
Approximately 6 months, usually built around weekends and availability. This suits divers balancing work, study, family or other commitments while progressing toward Divemaster.
Before You Pay Your Deposit
You do not need to arrive as an expert diver, but you do need to meet the entry requirements and be ready to commit to a professional-level training pathway.
Minimum Age
You must be at least 18 years old to begin professional-level Divemaster training.
Certification
You need to be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver or hold an equivalent entry-level certification.
Dive Medical
You need a dive medical completed within the past 12 months.

International Divers and Accommodation
Accommodation in Sydney
Accommodation is not automatically included, but Abyss can help you explore nearby options such as backpacker hostels, shared accommodation and Airbnb-style stays. Tell us your budget and preferences when you enquire.
Coming From Overseas
The Divemaster Internship includes return Sydney airport transfers. International divers should allow time to arrange visas, medicals, equipment and accommodation before travelling.
Important visa note
Visa rules depend on your passport, age, length of stay and whether you plan to work while in Australia. A Visitor visa or Electronic Travel Authority does not allow work in Australia. Working Holiday and Work and Holiday visas may allow short-term work and study, depending on your eligibility and visa conditions. Always check the Australian Department of Home Affairs before booking flights or accepting work.

Can I work while doing the internship?
