Swim With Seals
The seals are located a 10-minute boat ride from Port Kembla Harbour. (We do not offer any transport from Sydney to Port Kembla). The proximity to the beach makes it a perfect spot for a relaxing getaway, but please be aware of wildlife conservation restrictions and maintain a safe distance from wildlife. The seal swim experience is available daily from October to May. Guests can also engage in scuba diving during the tour. The water temperature near Montague Island can be quite cold even during summer, adding to the unique experience. The trip to Montague Island is an exciting journey, enhancing the overall adventure. We encourage guests to visit different natural locations to interact with Australian Seals.
Snorkelling with Seals is one of the most thrilling in-water experiences imaginable. Seals are one of the most fascinating creatures you can ever swim with. All they want to do is play with you, and if you don’t want to play with them, then they will find someone or something else to play with. The excitement of jumping into the water to interact with seals is unparalleled. The abundance of sea life, including seals, fish, coral, turtles, and manta rays, encountered during the tour is truly remarkable. You will also encounter different species of seals, such as the Australian Fur Seal and the New Zealand Fur Seal, each with unique behaviours.
On many of the tours, the snorkellers are lucky enough to sight humpback whales as the whales travel past on their annual migration.

We encourage guests to participate in additional activities, like a Shark Dive, for a more comprehensive experience.
Note: Freedivers must come with a buddy to ensure correct freediving protocols. A responsible adult must accompany children under the age of 15. Anyone under 45kg is required to provide their wetsuit. Private guides are available for those with limited swimming skills to ensure a safer experience.
We have been diving in the area for 18 years and have never seen a dangerous shark. Although the risks of encountering a dangerous shark in the areas are negligible, we dive with the protection of a Shark Shield and No-Shark electronic shark deterrents to ensure your peace of mind.
