Robin Weber
Meet Robin Weber – PADI Master Scuba Trainer and Sydney Wreck Diving Specialist
Robin Weber is a passionate PADI Instructor and technical diver at Abyss Scuba Diving in Sydney, known for his calm, encouraging teaching style and love of underwater exploration. Whether guiding students through their first dive or leading experienced divers through Sydney’s famous wrecks, Robin brings both expertise and enthusiasm to every dive.
Experience and Qualifications
Robin has been part of the Abyss Scuba Diving team since 2017. A lifelong waterman, he grew up competing at NSW State and Australian National swimming championships for over seven years before discovering his true passion beneath the surface. Since earning his Open Water certification, Robin has logged countless dives around Sydney and beyond, developing advanced technical and wreck diving skills.
He holds the rank of PADI Master Scuba Trainer and PADI Tec 40 Instructor, with additional certifications in Wreck, Sidemount, Dry Suit, Enriched Air (Nitrox), and Tec50 diving. Robin’s experience extends from teaching new divers how to stay relaxed underwater to mentoring seasoned divers who want to expand into technical and deep diving disciplines.
Favourite Sydney Dive Sites
Robin loves exploring Sydney’s diverse underwater landscapes, from the ex-HMAS Adelaide wreck to the macro-rich shallows of The Steps and Magic Point, where he often spots grey nurse sharks. He has a particular interest in wreck diving and is known for patiently helping divers refine their buoyancy and navigation skills while discovering the history hidden beneath the waves.
Why I Love Teaching Diving
“There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone’s eyes light up when they take their first breath underwater,” says Robin. “Diving opens up a whole new world — one most people never get to see — and I love being the person who helps them discover it.”
Robin’s teaching philosophy centres around confidence, curiosity, and respect for the ocean. He believes diving should be both safe and enjoyable, and he tailors his approach to help every diver feel comfortable, capable, and inspired.
Beyond Diving
When he’s not underwater, Robin channels his endurance and determination into cycling. He has raced A-Grade for the Penrith Cycling Club, ridden the 517 km length of the Birdsville Track, completed three “Everesting” challenges, and taken part in multi-day charity rides to support causes close to his heart.
