Abyss New Year escape

Trade Sydney’s summer rush for warm reefs and island time

Depart Sydney on Boxing Day for seven nights in Vanuatu, 10 guided boat dives in Havannah Harbour and an easy mix of reef time, local experiences and relaxed tropical evenings. Return flights, airport transfers, shared accommodation and daily breakfast are already built into the package.

This is a genuine dive holiday rather than a rushed weekend: enough time to settle into the rhythm of two boat dives per dive day, enjoy Vanuatu above the surface and begin 2027 somewhere memorable.

Why choose this adventure?

A complete New Year escape with the big details organised

Ten guided boat dives

Explore Havannah Harbour with Abyss Vanuatu, with single tanks, weights, a dive guide and between-dive snacks included.

Return flights from Sydney

Jetstar return airfares, Australian departure taxes, airline taxes and Port Vila airport transfers are included in the package.

More than the diving

Enjoy a local village tour, a kava-bar evening, relaxed poolside sunsets and genuine time to experience Vanuatu with the group.

The diving

Warm-water variety around Havannah Harbour

Around Moso Island and north-west Efate, dive sites range from coral gardens and bommies to walls, gutters, swim-throughs and ledges, with profiles selected for the conditions and the group.

Dugongs are present in Havannah Harbour, and local people report regular sightings around Moso Island, so seeing one during the week is a genuine possibility. They are free-ranging wild animals, however, so no departure, dive or day can guarantee an encounter. A dedicated dugong swim is not included, and the trip remains a complete ten-dive New Year holiday whether or not a dugong appears. Explore the evidence for dugongs in Havannah Harbour and around Moso Island.

  • 10 guided boat dives
Two boat dives per day across five planned dive days.
  • Abyss Vanuatu support
Single tanks, weights and dive-guide services are included.
  • Included Nitrox fills
    Available for Nitrox-certified divers.
  • Relaxed surface intervals
Between-dive snacks are served on a beautiful beach.

Exact dive sites, profiles and sequencing remain subject to weather, sea conditions, local operational advice and diver suitability.

A wild possibility

Dugongs may appear—but the trip does not promise one

Havannah Harbour includes the sheltered seagrass habitat used by dugongs. Their presence means a sighting from the boat, at the surface or, more rarely, by chance underwater is a genuine possibility. It remains a matter of timing and wild-animal behaviour, not something Abyss can schedule.

Let the animal lead

If a suitable opportunity arises, the local team will follow current permissions, local direction and the responsible dugong encounter guidelines. Nobody should chase, crowd, touch or feed a dugong.

New to the animal itself? Meet the dugong—the gentle sea cow, including its biology, diet, habitat and conservation.
