Your diving questions answered

Choose a question for more information, then find a dive or trip that suits you.

How can I dive with sharks?

Use the Shark filter to see published dives tagged for sharks, then open a dive’s details to check the site, depth, experience requirements and availability. Choose a dive that fits your certification and recent experience; the team can help if you are unsure.

Sharks are wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. If no dives match, try the next 28-day period or ask the team about upcoming opportunities.

How can I dive with seadragons?

Use the Seadragon filter to find published dives tagged for seadragons. Open the dive details to check the site, entry conditions and experience required, then choose a date that suits you.

Your guide can help you look for these well-camouflaged animals. Sightings are not guaranteed, and the site may change with conditions. If there are no matching dates, try the next 28-day period or ask the team.

How do your guided boat and shore dives work?

Our recreational boat and shore dives are guided by a dive professional. You book a place on a scheduled dive, meet at the location in your booking instructions, and join the briefing before diving with the group and your buddy.

Shore dives: enter from the shore at a site chosen for the conditions. Our free guided shore dives have no guiding fee; any equipment hire you need is extra. Book your place so we can plan the group.

Boat dives: travel by boat to the dive site. The charter price, number of dives, meeting instructions and equipment inclusions are shown in the individual booking details. Check these before booking.

Bring your certification and the equipment required for your dive, or arrange hire. Coming on your own is welcome — we help arrange buddy teams. Choose within your certification and recent experience; specialty and technical activities have their own requirements.

Would the Vanuatu long weekend suit me?

If you are a certified diver who would enjoy warm-water reefs, guided diving and a short island escape with other divers, the Vanuatu Long Weekend Dive Escape could be a good fit. It welcomes Open Water certified divers or equivalent, from recently certified divers to experienced divers who enjoy relaxed reef diving.

The trip combines four nights and seven guided dives, including a night dive, with an Abyss instructor travelling from Sydney with the group. The Thursday-to-Monday format uses three weekdays away. Solo travellers are welcome, and we help with buddy arrangements.

If you have not dived recently, talk to us about getting comfortable in the water again before the trip. Flights are booked separately; check the trip page for current dates, prices, inclusions and booking details.

Which dive suits my experience?

Use the experience filters, then check each dive’s certification, depth and site requirements. Your recent experience and comfort in the conditions matter as well as your certification. Just certified? The New Diver Calendar is a helpful starting point.

If you are returning after a break or unsure which dive to choose, call 02 9583 9662 with your certification and when you last dived so we can help you choose a suitable next step.

Can I come without a buddy?

Yes. You are welcome to book our guided recreational boat or shore dives on your own. We help arrange buddy teams as part of organising the dive, so you can meet other divers and join the group.

Let us know your certification and recent experience when booking. Any club membership or specialist requirements still apply to the individual activity.

What will my dive cost with gear hire?

Your total is the booked dive or charter price plus any equipment hire you need that is not included. Bring your own suitable gear, rent only the items you are missing, or arrange a full kit. You do not need to hire a full package if you already have some equipment.

Check the dive’s inclusions, tank requirements and pickup instructions, then use our current equipment hire options and prices. Confirm the items and number of tanks you need when booking so you know your total.

How much do dives cost, and how long do they take?

Free guided shore dives have no guiding fee; equipment hire is extra if needed. Boat charters and other paid activities show their current price in the booking details.

The calendar shows the scheduled start time. Allow time for meeting, equipment preparation, the briefing, the dive or dives and returning afterwards. The total time varies by activity, so check the booking instructions or ask us about the expected finish time before making other plans.
