Free Guided Shore Dives in Sydney

Join Abyss Scuba Diving for a guided shore dive and explore Sydney’s local dive sites with the support of an experienced dive professional. Guided shore dives are ideal for certified divers who want local knowledge, a safer and more relaxed dive plan, or extra confidence before diving independently.

These dives are designed for certified divers who are ready to dive, arrive prepared, and understand that local diving is affected by weather, sea conditions, timing, fitness and personal readiness. Please read the cancellation policy carefully before booking, as it applies to all guided shore dive bookings.

Cancellation Policy — Please Read Before Booking

Guided shore dives are scheduled local dives with limited places. Once your booking is confirmed, your place is held for you and may prevent another diver from joining. For this reason, cancellations, late changes, late arrivals and no-shows are managed strictly under the following policy.

Customer Cancellations and Refunds

• More than 3 days before the dive: You may cancel and receive a refund, less a $25 administration fee.
• Within 3 days of the dive: No refund is available.
• Failure to attend or no-show: No refund is available, and rebooking is at full cost.
• Late arrival: Please arrive on time. Refunds or credits will not be issued for late arrivals, including delays caused by traffic, parking difficulties or other personal circumstances.
• Medical or fitness issues: If a temporary or permanent medical condition prevents you from participating, the same cancellation terms apply.

Date Transfers and Booking Changes

• One free date transfer is permitted when requested more than 3 days before the dive.
• Subsequent date changes, or any transfer requested within 3 days of the dive, incur a $100 rebooking fee.
• Your dive may be transferred to another person at any time for a $100 rebooking fee, provided the replacement diver meets all certification, recency and fitness requirements.
• If you do not complete all scheduled dives within the allocated time, any remaining dive or dives are forfeited.

If Abyss Cancels Due to Weather or Safety

Diver safety comes first. If Abyss Scuba Diving cancels the guided shore dive because conditions are unsafe, such as unsuitable weather or sea conditions, you may transfer your booking to another available date within 12 months. Any difference in price at the time of rebooking will apply.

Gear Hire Cancellation Policy

If you book rental gear for your guided shore dive, it must be booked in advance and collected before the dive briefing. Gear hire has its own cancellation conditions:

• More than 48 hours before pickup: Refund available less 20% of the hire fee, with a minimum charge of $10.
• 48–24 hours before pickup: 50% of the hire fee is retained.
• Less than 24 hours before pickup or no-show: 100% of the hire fee is retained.
• Early return or unused rental gear is non-refundable.
• Divers are responsible for correct fitting, safe use and care of all hired equipment. Lost or damaged items will be charged at repair or replacement cost.

Who Can Join a Guided Shore Dive?

Guided shore dives are for certified divers who meet the requirements for local diving with Abyss Scuba Diving.

• You must be at least Open Water Certified.
• Proof of certification is required on arrival.
• Divers with fewer than 20 logged dives must have dived within the last 12 months.
• You must be fit to dive and be able to sign the required liability waiver.
• You must arrive on time and be ready for the dive briefing.

What to Expect

Your guide will help you understand the site, conditions, entry and exit points, general dive plan and safety considerations. Sydney shore diving can be incredibly rewarding, but conditions vary, so every dive is planned around safety, diver ability and the conditions on the day.

These dives are not a substitute for a scuba course or refresher training. If you have not dived recently, feel nervous, or need help rebuilding core skills, please ask us whether a refresher, private guide or additional training would be more suitable before booking.

Before You Book

Please only book a guided shore dive if you are confident you can attend, arrive on time, meet the certification and recency requirements, and are medically fit to dive. Once you are within 3 days of the dive, refunds are not available for personal cancellations, late changes, medical issues, traffic, parking problems or failure to attend.
