Freediving Instructors
Train with a team of specialist instructors – not just one. At Abyss, you’re supported by multiple coaches who bring complementary strengths in breathwork, equalisation, technique, safety and mindset. That means flexible scheduling, continuity if plans change, and a safer, more personalised learning experience from your first breath-hold through to advanced coaching. Research shows team-led schools deliver superior reliability, safety coverage and student outcomes.
Learn from multiple specialists (breathwork, equalisation, relaxation & finning) for clearer breakthroughs.
If an instructor is unavailable or weather shifts, another steps in – your course stays on track.
Small groups (max 4:1) with co-teaching support on busy days for extra eyes, feedback and safety.
Seamless progression from beginner to advanced – with mentors who know your goals.
Pool/ocean meetups and alumni support keep you diving safely long after certification. Check our training session →

Team FAQs
What happens if my instructor is unavailable?
We run with a team. If an instructor is unwell or conditions change, another qualified instructor steps in — your course will not be cancelled last-minute.
How many students per instructor?
We maintain a maximum 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio. On ocean sessions, we often co-teach for extra supervision and feedback.
Can I keep training after certification?
Yes. Our team offers pool and ocean meetups where you can continue improving your technique safely alongside your instructors and the Abyss community.
