Sydney is unequaled by any major city in which to scuba dive

A recent study revealed that Sydney has more marine species than any other harbour in the world. Some 600 marine animals have already been identified, and we can be sure that there are more to be found. One of the great attractions of diving around Sydney is its abundant sea life. Along with the diverse marine life found around Sydney, the coastline around Sydney is such that there is a great dive site around every corner.

Located central to Sydney's best scuba diving, Abyss Scuba Diving is Sydney's leading PADI 5-star dive shop. Abyss offers boat dives, free guided shore dives along with dive trips both around New South Wales.

On average, Abyss has more than fifty different scuba diving activities every month. There is no need for you to have a buddy because our divemasters can organise a dive buddy for you. As long as you have proof of scuba certification, no matter the diver certification agency (PADI, SSI, BSAC, ANDI, RAID, GUE), you can come scuba dive with us.

Note:  Transport is not included for this dive, if you require a lift please be here no later than 45 minutes before start time. If no lift can be provided with the best option is an Uber to and from the site.

The ship went down in 1983 after running aground and stayed in relatively good condition until being blown up for its metal in 1958. Even though the wreck is well broken up, the remains of the Hilda still roughly lie in the shape of a ship, in two separate places. There is a large winch located about ten metres to the north of the engine with part of the hull under it. If conditions make the planned site unsuitable, then another site will be selected for the dive..Transport is not included for this dive, if you require a lift please early. Kelo - Tec Boat 50m Sunday 20 Feb 2022

One of the better of the deeper wrecks off Sydney is the SS Kelloe. The Kelloe was a iron hulled collier. On the 13th of May 1902 the Kelloe went down after a collision with the Dunmore. Sitting on a sandy bottom broken by bits of the adjacent edge of the rocky reef, its depth is 48 to 51 metres. The wreck is sitting upright with the bow facing north. The main features of the wreck is the very large boiler and the engine. The boiler rises at least 3 to 4 metres from the bottom and is intact. The hull is opened out and is pretty messy and flat. On the eastern side the hull sits up a metre or two but otherwise, the main part of the wreck is absolutely flat. There is a large hole in the hull just forward of the stern that you can swim through. If conditions make the planned site unsuitable, then another site will be selected for the dive. The boat will Depart at the scheduled time from Sans souci public Fishing wharf off River side drive.
