What is PADI eLearning?

If you're thinking about learning how to scuba dive, a PADI eLearning course is the perfect way to do it! This online course allows you to learn at your own pace and schedule. You can spend as much — or as little — time on it as you like, and once you're done, you can dive right into the PADI Open Water Diver course, completing the dive training and dive skills development with a PADI dive Centre or resort. In this blog post, we'll tell you all about the PADI eLearning system of dive education and what you can expect from it. Keep reading to find out more!

1. What is a PADI eLearning course?

PADI eLearning is an online learning course that allows you to complete the online knowledge development portion of your Open Water Diver certification at home, on your own time. You can learn as fast or slow-paced!

PADI eLearning gives you the freedom to study on your computer or mobile device – whichever is more convenient for you. You can access your diving theory online or download course content to study offline using the PADI Training App.

2. How does eLearning work?

PADI's eLearning program is an excellent way to learn the skills necessary for practical training to become an open-water diver. You'll be able to watch videos and read materials at your own pace, take an exam on what you've learned after completing these practice sessions if needed-and then move on to the next module when ready!

3. What are the benefits of eLearning?

PADI eLearning allows you to complete the knowledge development portion of your certification at your own pace and in your own time. You can also complete the program from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

  • Flexible, you can do eLearning wherever and whenever you choose to
  • It has a variety of teaching methods, so it has a learning method that best meets your needs
  • You begin your in-water instruction much better prepared than learning in a classroom environment
  • Use periodic quizzes for a self-evaluation of your progress and easily review topics that you may not have grasped the first time.
  • You will leave your PADI certification course a much better, more experienced, and more eager diver.

4. How much time does it take to complete eLearning?

One of the most important things to know about PADI's eLearning course is that it can take anywhere from 8-12 hours for one person complete all modules. It really depends on your schedule and if you have any other commitments outside of learning this material, but remember: don't underestimate how long each lesson might require!

5. How do I get started with eLearning?

To start with PADI eLearning, buy booking a course with a PADI dive center or dive resort, and they will supply your eLearning. Alternatively, you can create an account on the PADI website and purchase the program. Once you have purchased the program, you will have access to all of the modules and materials. You can then begin working through them at your own pace.

6. What Other PADI Diving Certification Uses eLearning?

After the great success of the eLearning course for the open water diver course training, PADI has now expanded eLearning to most of their other diving, first aid and freediver courses. Along with the PADI open water diver course, academic training is now available for courses such as advanced open water diver, rescue diver, divemaster, Instructor development and a range of specialities, including Enriched Air Nitrox, deep diver, underwater photography, and equipment specialist diver.

7. Does eLearning expire?

You have 12 months to complete a PADI eLearning program from when you first log in. You'll get reminder emails 90 days and 60 days before your expiration date. If you let your PADI eLearning program lapse, please reach out to your affiliated PADI Dive Center or Resort for completion options.
