What the course entails

If you're looking to try scuba diving, this course is the perfect place to start your journey. It will provide you with all the essential knowledge and abilities needed to scuba dive safely and comfortably. You'll begin with pool training which will help you get familiar with scuba equipment as well as proper scuba techniques. Afterwards, you'll move on to the open water portion of the course, where you’ll hone in on your scuba diving skills under professional instruction and guidance. Along with pool training and open water dives, you’ll also be required to complete PADI eLearning prior to course start date. This is fundamental for learning about scuba theory and helping practice better dive techniques in the pool or open water situations.

How does a 2-day open water dive course work?

Courses in the Sydney metropolitan area are run over two days and involve a minimum of four ocean dives. This allows enough time to cover all the topics, hone your skills and become certified as an Open Water Diver. Our courses are run in small class sizes (maximum four divers), which means that each student receives close attention from instructors and can be more confident in their newly acquired skills.

The course consists of 3 components:

PADI eLearning

Taking your Open Water course through PADI eLearning gives you the advantage of studying at your own pace and getting the essential scuba theory and safety instruction to be fully prepared for pool training as well as open-water dives. To complete all knowledge development requirements, plan on dedicating 8 to 12 hours towards this part of the program.

Confined water or pool Training

After completing PADI eLearning, you'll spend 4-5 hours in the pool with an instructor to hone your dive techniques and get comfortable with the scuba gear. Instructors will guide you through 23 basic skills necessary for a successful underwater excursion. The goal of this session is not only to build confidence but also familiarity with all of your equipment and proper technique - everything required for a fantastic diving experience!

Pool Training

Open water or ocean Training

To complete the course, you will be provided with four open-water dives over the remainder of your two day course to apply all your newly acquired skills in various scenarios. This part of the program is especially enjoyable as it allows for a thrilling exploration of Sydney's unique marine life!

Our highly qualified PADI instructors will help you learn basic scuba skills you need to go scuba diving, giving you access to a variety of dive sites. You'll begin with pool training which will help you get familiar with scuba equipment and proper scuba techniques, before moving on to open water dives. At the end of the two days, you will be a certified open-water diver, a certification that will give you a lifetime of underwater adventure.

How much it costs?

Becoming a PADI open-water diver will give you access to the world's most incredible diving destinations for an affordable cost. The padi open water diver course usually ranges from $549 to $995 depending on several factors, such as preferred days and how personalized you want your course. With the ultimate savings you will receive from this lifetime experience, it is well worth it!

What do you need to bring/prepare for the course?

As you prepare to sign up for your upcoming padi eLearning course, there are a few things to consider and have ready. First, it's important to ensure that you are in good health and medically fit. This means that before the start of the course, you fill in a self-assessment medical questionnaire that determines any risk factors. If risk factors are determined, then you will be required to get a medical exam from a qualified physician if ever in doubt about your physical condition. Secondly, be sure to swim. A proficient level of swimming is necessary for the padi dives, so it would be beneficial to practice this before committing to the course itself. It is also important to keep these two factors in mind when evaluating courses and selecting locations. If certain requirements are not met, students may be required to take additional steps or delayed before being eligible for padi dives. Keeping these details in mind can help ensure that you are best prepared during your journey to becoming an open-water diver.
